Timetable
15 h of lectures and 15 h of practical classes.
First classes will start on 12th of October at room 311. Classes will take place every Thursday from 9-10:30.
Module aim (aims)
The aim of this classes is to develop students knowledge about soil properties and their spatial variability as an essential part of environment. Students will be introduced to both, Polish and World Reference Base of soil resources, basic laboratory soil analysis and data interpretation.
Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)
Basic knowledge about chemical and physical phenomenon.
Syllabus
Week 1 Definitions and soil-forming factors in the genesis of soil.
Week 2 Soil structure, classification of soil fractions. The specific role of mineral and organic colloids in soils.
Week 3 Physical properties of soil
Week 4 Chemical properties of soil 1
Week 5 Chemical properties of soil 2
Week 6 World soil taxonomy part 1
Week 7 Polish soil taxonomy compared to world soil taxonomy
