Module aim (aims)

 

The aim of this module is to provide basic badminton skills and knowledge about badminton.

Apart from teaching badminton techniques, typical badminton habits, rules and  behaviour will be forwarded to the participants.

Badminton is not only a sport, but a social event where people may enhance their fitness in a pleasant ambience.

Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)

The student must have basic motoric skills to perform motion appropriate to perform and acquire badminton techniques. The sports school provides equipment, such as: badminton rockets and shuttles. Still, the participant of the badminton classes must have a basic sports suit and sports footwear.

 

Syllabus

  1. Introduction into badminton: basic rocket grip, coordinative exercises to become accustomed to timing in basic badminton shots
  2. Forehand technique, grip, stance and motion.
  3. Backhand technique, grip, stance and motion.
  4. Transition from forehand to backhand and reverse. Observation of the badminton court.
  5. Directing of the shots. Proper motion directing the shots into planned areas of the court. Clear shots.
  6. Running and motion on the court: approaching the shuttle, final stride, recovery, scissor jump. Basic badminton games, introduction into rules
  7. Serve – basic technique and rules. Combining serve with forehand and backhand shots. Basic badminton games.
  8. Shuttle spin: drops in badminton - technique and tactics. Basic badminton games with counting rules.
  9. Block and smash: approaching the net. Basic badminton games with counting rules combining all known techniques.
  10. Offensive and defensive tactics. Singles and doubles rules and game.
  11. Repetition of all techniques. Doubles/Singles – advanced tactics.
  12. Depth of shots. Length and direction control. Doubles/Singles – advanced tactics.
  13. Backhand clear – high shots. Controlling the length of a shot. Advanced rocket grips and dynamic motion. Doubles/Singles – advanced tactics.
  14. Enhancing the power of shots. Coordinative exercises. Match.
  15. Coordinative exercises. Final Matches.
