Module aim (aims)

The aim of this module is an introduction to the methods and practices concerning caring out monitoring of environment using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. At the end of the module student will understand legislative and practical aspects of such operations. Student will also learn how to prepare various products and how to interprete them in the context of envriomental monitoring.

Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)

Basic computer skills, prior konwledge of GIS software is not required.

Syllabus

Week 1: Introduction to UAV operations principles and legislation.
Week 2: Collecting data with an UAV (outdoor).
Week 3: Image processing and calibration principals.
Week 4: Digital elevation models and introduction to photogrammetry.
Week 5: Orthomosaicking and vegetation indices.
Week 6: Time series analysis and incorporation of other remote sensing data.
Week 7: Thermal cameras and images.
