Module aim (aims)

  1. interpersonal: critical abilities, interdisciplinary skills, ability to appreciate cultural diversity, ability to work in the individual and collective way;
  2. instrumental: ability to analyze and synthesize, general knowledge, primary knowledge in the field of Central European art, political and literary history, English writing and speaking skills, information management skills (gaining and analyzing information and data from different sources);
  3. comprehensive: learning skills, individual work skills, research skills, creativity, understanding other cultures and habits.

Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)

Basic knowledge about European culture and tradition, ability to formulate opinions and judgments on the subject of literature and culture (as well in writing as in oral presentation).

Syllabus

Course learning content:

Showing the relation between particular cultural events in Central Europe and similar phenomena in European literature, exposing the areas of identification and differentiation.

Presentation of the Central European tradition repertory in terms of community, identity, belonging; including the broader context of European traditions.

Showing the diversity of the region of Central Europe, the wealth of literary and cultural traditions of that space.

Presentation of Central Europe in geographical, political and social categories, as well as in reference to the national identities and cultural models.
