Week 1: Presentation of sources and methods. Geography and prehistory of the metropolitan area of Poznań – lecture (meeting point: Collegium Historicum)
Week 2: General introduction to the archaeology and history of Poznań – lecture (meeting point: Collegium Historicum)
Week 3: Archaeological excavations and main monuments of Ostrów Tumski – field trip (meeting point: in front of the Cathedral)
Week 4: The main monuments of the Old Town – field trip (meeting point: in front of the Old City Hall)
Week 5: The surroundings of the Old City – field trip (meeting point: in front of the Old City Hall)
Week 6: Recapitulation (meeting point: Collegium Historicum)
Week 7: Final discussion and exam (meeting point: Collegium Historicum)

Module aim (aims)

- to present general overview of the basic themes in Poznań history and archaeology from the prehistory until the 21st century (with special attention to the most important archaeological and architectonical monuments and places of historical meaning)
- to point out the meaning of the historical processes which influenced the urban development of Poznań
- to raise student awareness of the problems related to the preservation of urban cultural space

Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)

Be able to walk during three hours.

Maximum numer of students: 12.

- Sources, methods, geography and prehistory of the metropolitan area of Poznań 

- General introduction to the archaeology and history of Poznań 

- Archaeological excavations and main monuments of Ostrów Tumski

- The main monuments of the Old Town 

- The surroundings of the Old City
