The aim of the lecture is to provide knowledge about contemporary bioethical problems and legal reguvations of these issues.

1. Introduction - Basic ethical principles in European bioethics and biolaw.
2. Selected issues - Patients’ Rights.
3. Selected issues - status of the human body and transplantation.
4. Selected issues - genetics and research on humans
5. Selected issues - abortion and assisted procreation.
6. Selected issues - assisted suicide and euthanasia
7. Council of Europe and the Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine
8. EU competences relating to bioethics.
9. EU institutions involved in bioethics.
10. EU legislation and other measures.
11. Comparative studies - United States experience and Supreme Court jurisprudence
