Module aim (aims)
The main goal/objective of swimming lessons is to familiarize yourself with the aquatic environment. Move freely and without stress in both shallow and deep water.
Swimming ability to know how to survive in the water without panic.
- Buoyancy on the front, back and side without stress, being familiar with water environment.
- Knowing basics how to swim in the shallow and deep water.
- Save diving skills using flippers in deep and shallow water.
- The survival swimming e.g.: sidestroke, survival backstroke, sculling
- Efficient three strokes development such us: backstroke, freestyle, breaststroke.
- Aqua yoga as a part of water familiarization.
- Watsu – to know how to make relaxation in the water with calm music.
- Modified Water Polo games in shallow water.
- Safe jumping in to the water.
- Because, know how to swim, students can do other water sports such us for instance: kitesurfing, canoeing, scuba diving, snorkeling etc.
- Basic corrective swimming by using some chosen exercises.
Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)
- To get the background of the familiarization in the water world.
- Understand/gather an overview of AUTSWIM and aquatic industry how to swim safety in the water.
- Socialization within the group.
- Well-being connected with both a good body shape and mind set.
- Ability to be open for build positive atmosphere during swim classes.
- Peers sharing by knowledge.
- Empathy and being alert for other students in water environment.
Syllabus
- Basics of swimming: flotation (buoyancy) on back, breast, side by yourself and second person. Plus “Watsu” with calm music during exercising in pair-waise among the students.
- Breathing activities in the water.
- Glid/torpedo position – lock hands, lock head, steer up. This is absolutely basic position to learn how to swim in appropriate styles.
- Repetition floating on back and teaching principles of backstroke e.g.: instructional film-lecture with appropriate technique of swimming.
- Backstroke: body position, leg action, arm action (pop in, pop out), head position.
- Mixed combination by two strokes: legs kicking and breaststroke arms action, plus breathing.
- Freestyle: body position, leg action, arm action, head position connected with breath in and breath out during arms action.
- On purpose apply teaching some exercises from corrective swimming how to fix faulty posture.
- Survival swimming in deep water: sidestroke, backstroke, sculling.
- Aqua yoga, using some elements as a part of warming up and cool down.
- Water polo games modification in shallow water for have a fun.
