Module aim (aims)
- developing the four basic language skills - speaking, reading, writing and listening
- mastering a range of vocabulary, phrases and structures of French at beginner level
- acquiring the ability to understand simple writen and listened texts on general topics
- acquiring the international knowledge necessary to establish and maintain communication with users of the target language, appropriate to their level of proficiency
- familiarisation with the fundamental values of the culture of French speaking countries
- developing an awarness of continous improvement of language skills
- acquiring the ability to use teaching aids and information technology proficiently to develop language skills
Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)
The course is for students who have no prior knowlwdge of French and who are interested in discovering French language and culture
Syllabus
1. Introducing oneself and others.
2. Objects - question "what is it?" and people - question "who is it?".
3. Days of the week, months and seasons of the year. Numbers and dates. Questions "what time is it?", "at what time?" and answering them.
4. Dialogues at a hotel reception.
5. In a restaurant - choosing and ordering dishes, paying.
6. Asking for the way - how to get from one place to another, on foot or by public transport.
7. Conversations at a travel agency.
8. Talking about local tourist curiosities.
9. Visiting a city - organising a city tour.
10. Asking for informations at the airport. Vocabulary useful at the airport.
11. Understanding instructions on board of a plane.
12. Buying train tickets. Vocabulary useful at a railway station.
13. Fixing a visiting itinerary of a country or of a town.
14. Organising a package tour.
15. Evaluation test.
