Module aim (aims)
The lecture will focus on how social media can be used to promote knowledge on Earth sciences. It will discuss content creation, promotion and marketing strategy, as well as science communication. We will also discuss increasing problems related to the use of social media platforms such as personal difficulties of social media users related with followed content, fake news, and AI slop.
In the practical part we will discuss current topics related to the use of social media platforms as users and how to plan social media presence to promote our interests in Earth sciences as content creators. We will also touch on topics related to sustainable personal use of social media platforms.
Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)
General knowledge in geography, geology, climate change. Interest in social media platforms and promotion of science online.
