Module aim (aims)

- Assimilation of basic grammar structures and vocabulary of Hungarian language used for everyday communication at level A1
- Acquisition of basic knowledge of the Hungarian language (the place of Hungarian among languages, typology, vocabulary building)
- Acquiring essential cultural information about Hungary: traditions, main historical events, holidays, trends in gastronomy, inventions

Syllabus

Week 1:            Introduction to the basic features of Hungarian language   

Week 2: Introduction to Hungarian phonological system and writing system, the Hungarian alphabet

Week 3:            Basic Hungarian words and phrases

Week 4:            Where are Hungarians come from? Legends, myths, truths

Week 5:            National symbols of Hungary

Week 6: “Hungarikums” – a Special National Collection of Hungarian Values

Week 7: Hungarian Folk Traditions Today           

Week 8:            The most important Artists and Works of Hungarian Art and Architecture

Week 9: Hungarian photography / photographic art

Week 10: The most famous Hungarian inventors and their inventions

Week 11: UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Hungary

Week 12: Traditional Hungarian Cuisine and New Trends in Gastronomy

Week 13: The international successes of Hungarian film

Week 14: Revision
