Module aim (aims)
The main aim of the module is to present how nuclear particles and radiation are used in nuclear medicine (tomographic and therapeutic devices).
Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)
The knowledge of physics at the college level.
Syllabus
Learning content:
1. Physical principles of nuclear medicine - types of radiations
2. Dosimetry and the effect of radiation on the biological cell
3. Chemistry of radiopharmaceutical
4. Nuclear medicine diagnostic (gamma camera, PET, SPECT) and supportive radiological methods (CT, MRI)
5. Multimodal imaging and hybrids
5. Artifact and their origins
6. Kinetic and dynamic diagnostics
7. Basic therapies provided by nuclear medicine
