A lecture addressed to all those who are interested in knowing the invisible world of space, place, perception and social behaviours.Place theory is a key concept in social geography and planning approaches. A place means a well-known, familiar, friendly, subjective space. However a positive as well as a negative emotions are associated with places. So place may be unsettled, disgusting, boring as well. During our meetings we will discuss a classic and dynamic approaches to the idea of Place and Place Making created by such authors as: Yi Fu Tuan, Auge, Relph, Flusty as well as Creswell, Meyrowitz, Massey, Lewicka and Adams. How a place is created? What type of places may be discouraging and disgusting? What is more important: spatial setting or social communication within place? Is place a dynamic or constant category? Can McDonald's be a favourite and familiar place or rather non-place? What is the impact of social media on place making? These are just a few questions that will be considered during lectures and the answers will be learned in the course of these meetings.
