Module aim (aims)

Presenting of chosen areas of contemporary culture where happens synergy between Christianity and pop culture, and where culture marks it own stigma - pointing the space where Christian family have own specific place in the contemporary culture.

Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)

– training skills of influencing on contemporary culture – building bridges between Christianity and pop culture in synergical understanding – finding culture as a space of contemporary arena of world-wide dialogue of human-being condition – showing world of Christian family as a world of values that shaped contemporary Europe.

Syllabus

Week 1:Christianity and family - Catholic vision of marriage and family - introduction.Week 2: Family in the modern world; unions, marriage to the test, "free relationships"Week 3:Positive phenomena in family life - what good did civilizational changes bring and what the Church did not expect?Week 4:Threats of the modern family - how the Christian family perishes before our eyes. Will it be gone forever?Week 5: The space of dialogue between Christianity and contemporary societies. Is it possible to have a dialogue in the conditions of cultural and social conflict? Week 6:Difficulties in dialogue on family life. Week 7:Perspectives of the coexistence of Christianity and other religious-moral systems in the context of the family. Week 8:“Modern family” as a pop-cultural promotion of non-christian ideas.Week 9:Inter-faith families Week 10: A non-denominational family in post-Christianity.Week 11: Christian family and non-Christian world. Week 12: A modern family, or how a pop culture pattern shapes usWeek 13: Familia futuristica - where can the future of the family lead to?Week 14: The challenge of Tradition, or what the Church can answer to what will come Week 15: The future of the Church and the future of the family.
