30 hours of practical classes, 15 weeks
The classes will take place on Wednesdays:
group 1: Wednesday 16.45 - 18.15 in Międzychodzka building, room 113
group 2: Wednesday 18.30 - 20.00 in Międzychodzka building, room 113
Module aim (aims)
The aims of the course are:
- to make participants aware of the characteristics of very young children as foreign language learners
- to develop the skills and strategies of planning a foreign language lesson for young learners
- to develop the ability to use methods and techniques suitable for teaching English to young children, including activating techniques and techniques supporting the development of learner autonomy
- to develop the ability to plan activities which aim at the development of learners’ knowledge of English
- to develop the ability to plan and teach different types of lessons
- to develop the ability to evaluate, choose and produce own teaching materials appropriate for young learners and very young learners
- to familiarize participants with literature connected with teaching English to young learners
Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)
- Minimum language requirements: B1+ level
- Basic knowledge of pedagogy
- Ability to work in groups
- Ability to use different learning methods
- Good reading skills

SYLLABUS:
Week 1: Characteristics of young children as language learners
Week 2: To speak or not to speak English in class
Week 3 - 4: Organising language classroom / classroom management
Week 5: Teaching listening
Week 6 -7 Teaching vocabulary . Ways of memorizing vocabulary
Week 8 -9 Story telling
Week 10 -11: Teaching speaking
Week 12: Teaching pronunciation – games and activities
Week 13 Planning a foreign language lesson for young learners
Week 14 -15: Participants’ presentations
