Module aim (aims)
- familiarizing the students with lake restoration methods
- explaining the significance of lake restoration
- understanding how to select the method of lake restoration in relation to lake/catchment environmental conditions
- familiarizing the students with case studies and reasons of restoration success/failure
Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)
Basic knowledge of lake ecology.
Syllabus
The idea behind the course is to present a variety of methods used in lake restoration, including their efficiency, pros and cons. This knowledge will be used during project of lake restoration prepared by students during practicals, based on data on lake trophic status, pollution sources and characteristics of hydrobionts (work on data from previous studies as well as in laboratory and with microscopic material). Additionally, case studies of lake restoration will be discussed during seminars to reveal more specific conditions and results of restoration measurements.
