Module aim (aims)

The aim of the course is to analyze selected problems related to multicultural and multiethnic European regions in the 19th and 20th centuries from the perspective of environmental history. The dynamic history of the European continent resulted in, among others, migrations caused by wars, unfavorable economic conditions, or possibilities that were created by the 19th-century industrial revolution as well as processes of urbanization. In consequence, the result was the emergence of multiethnic and multicultural regions, which went along with the environemental issues. e.g., the adaptation to the new landscape and climate, environmental management, coping with the post-apocalyptic environment of warfare, and postcolonial influences.
