Class wil start in the second half of the semester - on Thursday 18.04.
We will meet at the room 23 (under the dome, second floor), 11.30 -13.00
Module aim (aims)
• Workshop will cover basics of the web mapping, from the definition and main concepts to practical aspects and examples of real-life applications of web-based GIS services. Participants will learn how to build and publish a simple internet thematic map that make use of both local and remote data sources. The course aims to introduce Free and Open Source Software and OGC standards as a tools that allows high interoperability.
• Apart from GIS technologies particpants will learn basics of building of web user interfaces based on Javascript and Mapbox framework. They will also become aware of internet technologies that can be combined to resolve various tasks in distributed web environment - from data visualisation to advanced technologies.

Week 1: Web mapping - examples, applications, state-of-the-art
Week 2: HTML and CSS basics – building web page
Week 3: Introduction to Mapbox framework and cartographic representation - symbology
Week 4: Simple web map
Week 5: Introduction to Javascript
Week 6: Web map with Mapbox GL library
Week 7: Individual projects and consultations
