Module aim (aims)
The main aim of the course is to familiarize students with the global water resources and its sustainable management.Transfer of knowledge about the role of forest, agricultural and fisheries management as well as irrigation processes in the transformation of water systems.Familiarisation with the topics of high river water levels, floods and flood protection.Provision of information on the protection of the quantity and quality of water resources and posibilities of water retention.Society water reqiurement and possibility of water supply.Dam reservoirs and hydropower plants : Functioning and impact on riverine water quallity and biocoenoses.Inland shipping- environmental profits and losses.Water in urban environments: needs and management.Human impact of catchments: effects and and preventive methods.Develop of the skills of communication and cooperation.

Week 1: Global water system
Week 2: Watershed management – the influence of forestry and agriculture
Week 3: Watershed management – aquaculture and irrigation
Week 4: Water quality, its retention and human water demands
Week 5: Water on the verge of economy and ecology: hydropower plants and water damming
Week 6: River management: water transport and floods
