Module aim (aims)
The main aim of the course is presentation of the impact of biotic and abiotic stresses on plants. In frame of the course students will get theoretical and practical knowledge concerning:- the most common stress factors affecting plants growth and development,- plant stress symptomatology,- general and specific responses to stress factors,- the role of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species in plants reaction to unfavourable conditions,- recovery of plants after exposure to stressesThe course will include short theoretical lectures, seminars consisting of discussion about recent publications associated with the lecture topic and practical classes.
Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)
Knowledge: basic knowledge of botany and plant physiology
Syllabus
Lectures and seminars:
Week 1(introductory lecture): Introduction to plant ecophysiology.
Week 2 (lecture and seminar): Extreme temperatures – heat and cold stress.
