Module aim (aims)
• To provide knowledge concerning theory and research methods on selected psychology/cognitive sciences topics;
• To develop the ability to work independently with scientific text and its critical analysis;
• To develop skills related to study-experiment design;
• To develop scientific writing skills;
• To improve interpersonal communication skills and working in groups ability
Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences (where relevant)
It is assumed that students already know the most basic theories concerning organizational behaviour.
Syllabus
Work and organizational psychology (W/OP) is concerned with the development and application of scientific principles to the workplace. During the course student will learn about theories and ideas about how people think, feel, and act in work (brief summary). We will focus on some of the tools W/O psychologists use to understand attitudes towards work and organization, and how these attitudes influence workers’ behavior. We will also discuss the relevance of psychological research findings for HRM practice.
The main goals for students in this course include an in depth understanding of: 1) basic methods in organizational research, 2) basic principles of conducting research in organizations (quantitative and qualitative methods) 3) ethical issues and standards in research and applications of W/O psychology, and 4) development of scientific writing and presentation skills.
